We are hearing more and more about emerging plonk countries growing in unlikely places – Pinot Noir is conquering the Willamette Valley in the northwest, the plonk culture from New York to the Finger Lakes is gaining in esteem and even Texas has a booming plonk scene!
And while we are happy to have more interesting bottles to drink (did you know that I worked in the plonk industry?) we are even more curious to know what this means for the wedding world: more beautiful places to get married under the Radar!
No matter where you are in the world, the land of plonk always means beauty – gentle hills, volcanic vineyards or steeply sloping vineyards – if you want a beautiful setting for your wedding photos, you can count on the vineyards that offer you the beauty you need.
That brings us to Today’s awesome real-life wedding in Virginia. We have recently seen an increase in weddings in the vineyards of the South (see also these in Georgia and these in Virginia!) and boy, they are beautiful. If you combine rustic old-world scenes with old-fashioned Southern Charm, you have the recipe for a wonderful wedding anniversary.
Proposal
Fast forward two more years, Tyler’s mom and sister visited the city and he wanted to take them to our favorite place, Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant. I looked at the fountain above the outdoor balcony, turned around and Tyler was lying on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was so happy that my first reaction was “Omg, are you serious?”I will never forget the joyful feeling that I felt at that moment. A few minutes after, he surprised me again by having all my best friends there to party with us.
Location & Style
Elegant, romantic and glamorous describe our wedding style. I had dreamed of getting married at Morais Vineyards & Winery since I saw it in a photo many years ago and we had booked it the day after our engagement. For me, it is the most breathtaking and romantic place I have ever seen and embodies everything I wanted for our big day!
To embody our wedding style, we had blush and neutral colors at our wedding, with gold and shimmering accents and a touch of navy sapphire for the men’s Tuxedos.
The Dress And The Clothes
I knew that I wanted a wedding dress that was above all elegant. After a lot of research, I realized that Martina Liana embodied my style in her clothes. Attractive and eye-catching, my transparent wedding dress by Martina Liana was the high-end style I wanted for a big wedding day. The sheer top of the dress is adorned with a deep V-neck in the center of the dress and effortlessly extends into organic lace straps and deep side cutouts. I just needed a try to find my dress – it was the first one I put on, and I knew this was it..
To complete my wedding dress and our elegance, Tyler and the boys wore classic navy sapphire tuxedos with gold jewelry, and the bridesmaids wore luxurious rose quartz-colored chiffon dresses.
Favorite moments
My favorite part of the day was seeing Tyler’s reaction when he saw me at first sight, and then I walked down the aisle. Tyler says his favorite part was the first look too – he says he was thrilled.
Flower
Our wedding flowers were soft and elegant; we used blush, Ivory and neutral colors for the flowers. Roses are my favorite, so we took care to integrate them. There were rose petals in the aisle and a red and ivory wall background for the ceremony. My bouquet and the flower centers were simply beautiful.
Details And Favors
All the labels and stationery items have been designed by Becky J. invitations. The golden mirror welcome sign and the golden mirror seat card had the calligraphy of Write Liz Write.
We included details throughout the wedding with the word “love” for our last name, and our Signature drink was made with Tennessee Honey Screech to give an indication of where we met.
The favors were the perfect touch to end the night of a beautiful wedding; personalized ivory and gold pendants wrapped around a mini bottle of champagne. The perfect sleep glass for all our guests to remember the best night of our lives.
Wedding cake
Our wedding cake was simple elegance with a touch of romance. We used ivory fondant, pearls and pearl borders around the base of each level. We used gold for the base of the cake and a golden “Love” Topper, as well as roses for a touch of romance. The cake was swirled with aromas of lemon and raspberry.
Tips for other couples
It’s so easy to dive into all the details of the big day because, of course, you want it to be perfect – step back and enjoy all the special moments with the one you love, because it’s really important and it happens so quickly.
